Weatherization is the practice of protecting a building and its interior from the elements, particularly from sunlight, precipitation, and wind, and of modifying a building to reduce energy consumption and optimize energy efficiency.
A home that is well insulated saves energy (and money!) by requiring less activity from the heating or cooling systems for it to be comfortable, which in turn consumes less energy; temperature swings inside the house are minimized or eliminated. You may even start setting your thermostat at a lower temperature (or higher, in the summer) without fighting a battle with the members of your household! Not to mention that using less energy equals spending less money and it is good for the environment.
ECG will start your Home Weatherization project with a thorough home audit, in order to determine what the specific needs of your home are. From there, we will seal air leaks (there is a surprisingly great number of unusual places where your home can be losing heated or cooled air!) take other necessary corrective measures and finish with another audit to compare the readings after the weatherization
